Mother's Day Celebration

Mother's Day has come and gone. I hope that all of you spent a little time to celebrate your mother yesterday! I can honestly say that I do not believe children can truly understand the sacrifices and amount of love a mother has for her children until they become parents themselves. It has definitely come into focus for me within the last 20 months.

My husband got me a nice day at the spa. I am sooo looking forward to my massage, pedicure, and manicure. I have never had a massage before, but I can tell you that a toddler does a number on your back! I am in pain most days. Not to mention, I have terrible posture which just adds to the pain.

I hope everyone has a great Monday! And, just remember to celebrate your Mother every day! Without her, you would not exist.

Warm Regards,
Kimberly

Five Tips to get your Mom the Perfect Mother's Day Gift this Year.

Mother's Day is right around the corner! Are you prepared?

With Mother's Day being only two weeks away, it is definitely time to start making some decisions about what to buy your mother for her special day.

So, what should you get? Well, as a mother myself, I am going to give you five tips/ideas to make your mom smile this Mother's Day!

Tip #1 - Make your Mom something! Nothing says 'I love you' like a one-of-a-kind gift made especially by you. Be creative!

Tip #2 - Get your Mom a massage! Moms spend their day working either away from home, at home, or both. A little time away, some relaxation, would be a great gift for your Mom.

Tip #3 - Pick up some chores around the house! If you still live at home, take some work off of your Mom's plate. Do the dishes, do the laundry, mow the yard... the possibilities are endless!

Tip #4 - Take your Mom out to dinner, or if you don't have the money, make her dinner! Giving your Mom some special one-on-one time with her child is such a wonderful gift!

Tip #5 - Flowers! What Mom doesn't love flowers? Get some out-of-the box flowers. It doesn't always have to be roses (of course, those are gorgeous, too!). Calla Lilies, Gerber Daisies, Tulips, Peonies... there are tons of gorgeous flowers out there that can also be very affordable.

I hope these tips give you some ideas for your Mom this Mother's Day!

Most of all, just tell her you love her, give her a hug, and express how much she means to you!

Warm Regards,
Kimberly

Poor Little Bug

I have found that the older Kylee gets, the more she is beginning to realize the world around her. She is starting to notice smaller things around her, not just the big picture.

A few days ago, she became "friends" with a bug on our back porch. It actually was a pretty sad bug. It was missing a leg and kept falling over on its back.

She would crouch down, put her hands on her knees, and just talk and talk and talk to that little bug. It was absolutely adorable.

After a little while, she would walk away, but then, she would always come back and talk to the bug again.

I am sure the bug was horrified and scared.

The funny thing about kids, though, is that they have a very short attention span. After playing outside for a little while, I told Kylee it was time to come in for a snack. She went from kneeling and talking to the bug to stepping ON the bug as she walked in the house....

Poor little bug.

Imagine, Dream, Hope, Laugh, and Love

After the events that occurred this past week, I have been looking for a sign. Something to restore my faith in humanity. I have always felt that most people are genuinely good at heart. But, when terrible atrocities happen like the one this past week, it tends to make people reconsider what they believe in. So, I asked for a sign. And, then, I came across this quote. This wonderful, lovely, and oh so true quote. I think we all get caught up in life... all of the responsibilities... but in the end, we all need to just go back to the basics. The ideals that we had as children: imagination, dreaming, hope, laughter, and love. Those are the things that will get us through the difficult times, the times when we question our beliefs.

Creative Quote of the Week

Happy Sunday everyone.

I hope you had a really wonderful weekend. Mine was good but extremely busy!

I wanted to share with you my quote of the week. I saw this quote by Scott Adams and thought it was perfect for all of my crafters. I hope you like it too! :)

My Top Five Reasons to DIY

Crafting.

What does that word even mean? I think it has different definitions to everyone. It depends upon your craft of choice. If you make home decor like me, when I am crafting, I am sanding wood, painting, picking out embellishments... When a dress-maker is crafting, they are cutting fabric, sewing, measuring...

All crafters have the same idea at heart. They make beautiful items all by themselves. They don't run to the store and buy the decor for their home, they make it. They don't run to the mall and buy an outfit, they make it. Maybe not always, but a good deal of the time. They take the power back. They are a DIYer.

Why be a DIYer? Clearly it is faster and often easier to just run to the store a purchase something already made. However, I do have a few reasons for doing it yourself. Here are my top five:

1) You can completely customize whatever you are making to your liking. When you go to the store to buy something, you have an idea in mind of what you are looking for. In most instances, you will never find exactly what you are wanting, but if you make it yourself, you WILL get what you have already visualized.

2) It can be cheaper. I say "can" because it really does depend. If you already have the supplies on hand, it will be cheaper. But, if you have never made the craft before, and this is the first time, you will have to purchase supplies which can become pricey. If it is a one time thing, it may be cheaper to go to the store and buy whatever you are looking for. But, if you are going to be making this craft often, then you will save money by being a DIYer.

3) It is cathartic. Maybe not for everyone, but definitely for me. I am a person who has a mind that just can't stop. A lot of women are that way! When you keep your mind busy by creating something, then it cannot drift off to other places. When I really need to calm my mind, I craft.

4) It's a good talking piece! When you make something yourself, people are bound to ask where you got it. You can tell them that YOU made it! How fun is that? If you are someone who is selling your craft, this is a really great way to get your items out there. If you make jewelry, wear your jewelry around. People WILL ask where you got it, and then you can slip them a business card.

5) It's easy nowadays! Before, you had to learn to make items by figuring it out yourself or working along someone who was an expert. Now, there are online tutorials everywhere! Sites like Pinterest are all the rage. You can search exactly what you would like to make and find someone telling you exactly how to make it!

So, next time you want a personalized gift for a friend, make it! It will be a very rewarding experience, I assure you.

Warm Regards,

Quote of the Week

Happy Sunday. Just wanted to share some food for thought... the quote of the week! I ran across this quote, and I was surprised I had never heard it before. What do you think?

I don't know that I would necessarily call myself an artist. I am more of a crafter. But, as a crafter, I do agree that I am constantly and consistently undervaluing my work. It is hard to put a price on something you have created! Hope you have a good Monday.

Warm Regards,
